About ETC

1st ETC Steering Committee

ETC is a biennial assembly of all Tibetan Communities in Europe.

ETC aims to:

1. Promote the common interests of Tibetans living in Europe
2. Educate Tibetans in Europe of the culture of Democracy and Rule of Law
3. Integrate Tibetans living in Europe to the society of their respective country of residency

1. What is ETC?

Europe Tibetan Congress (ETC) is a biennial assembly for Tibetans communities in Europe. It is hosted by one of the Tibetan communities. The 1st ETC was held in Basel, Switzerland in 2008. The 2nd ETC is held in Paris, France 2010.

2. Who can attend the ETC?

Every Tibetan living in Europe can attend the ETC as observers, but voting rights are restricted to 10 official delegates from each respective community. Both observers and delegates are registered by the local Tibetan community.

3. Who organize the ETC?

ETC is organized by the Tibetan communities themselves. The “Organizing Committee” consist of minimum three communities, the previous host community, the current host community and the next host community. The President of the current host community is also the President of the Organizing Committee. The current 2nd ETC Organizing Committee was established at the 1st ETC in Basel, 2008.
